COVID-19 & Our Clinic

Modifications To Speech Pathology Practice
During The COVID-19 Pandemic

Our speech pathology practice has been modified in accordance with procedures & precautions relevant to all health care activities at this time.

The main changes we have made include:

  • Introduction of the option to do online telepractice (live online video-share platform) to provide at home options for service delivery.
  • In-clinic modifications to maintain physical distancing and infection control requirements.

TELEPRACTICE
Andrea Holland Speech Pathology is now providing online telepractice as an option for service delivery. This means that assessments and sessions via secure online video share platform are available, so you or your child can receive treatment from home via computer, tablet or other audiovisual device with internet connection.  Please contact Andrea if you have any questions about telepractice.

IN-CLINIC PRECAUTIONS
Below is a summary of the Standard Infection Control and Physical Distancing precautions we have implemented in clinic.

To maintain appropriate infection control through standard precautions. These include:
  • Routine environmental cleaning between consultations and clinical sessions.
  • Perform appropriate hand hygiene (refer to The World Health Organisation ‘My 5 Moments for Hand Hygiene’: https://www.who.int/infection-prevention/campaigns/clean-hands/5moments/en/)
  • Clean and reprocess any equipment that is shared between clients
  • Ask clients to use hand sanitiser before entering the consult room
  • Use single patient use/disposable items where possible e.g., disposable cups, spoons.
  • Handle and dispose of waste safely.
  • Follow respiratory and cough etiquette.
  • Wear clothing to be bare below the elbows.
  • No jewellery including rings, watches, bracelet.
  • Ensure long hair is tied away from the face.
  • Wash work clothes daily.

Physical Distancing Precautions
Physical distancing precautions are used to prevent exposure to virus that may be transmitted in droplet and aerosol form. These precautions we have instituted include:
  • Maintain physical distancing for all consultations, where possible.
  • Sit/stand beside the patient rather than across from the patient.
  • Arrange waiting room and consult room furniture to maintain physical distancing.
